Congratulations. Two steps down, one to go.

  1. The idea, done
  2. Registered, done
  3. Open for business

You registered the business.
Now let the world know. Website, business email and security for new businesses in Canada

SetupCanada is the tech team your new business doesn’t have yet: a website built to be found, email that can’t be faked, and security done properly. Live in about three business days.

Registered in Alberta and need a registered office address? Ask us.

We don’t register businesses. You do that, then we take it from there.

Step three

What nobody tells you after you register.

Registering or incorporating gets you a business number. It doesn’t mention that clients will search for you before they call, that your email can be faked, or that a client will one day ask how you handle security.

  1. 1

    Clients search for you first.

Before anyone emails you, they look you up. A parked domain, or a site search engines can’t read properly, makes a new company look unfinished, or invisible.

  2. 2

Anyone can send email as you.

Without SPF, DKIM and DMARC on your domain, anyone can send mail that looks like it came from you, and your real mail is more likely to land in spam. The realistic version is an invoice to your client asking them to pay into a new account.

  3. 3

    A client asks about security.

Sooner or later a larger client sends a security questionnaire. Most new founders have nothing to show them. You’ll have a summary from an enterprise compliance platform.

The whole setup, in about three business days.

Nothing for you to configure and nothing technical to learn. Send us your domain name and we do the rest.

  1. 01

    Website

Your domain name, registered for you, and a professional website on it built properly for search: fast pages, clean structure, and titles and descriptions written around what your clients look for. Contact forms that land in your inbox, hosting and a certificate that renews itself, and a branded QR code for your cards and signage.

Domain included, built for search, contact forms

  2. 02

    Email and workspace

Business email on your own domain, plus calendar, video meetings, chat, file storage and sharing, and Office apps on your computer and phone. The business-grade suite larger companies run on, for two users to start, with email authentication and multi-factor sign-in set up so your mail lands and nobody can pretend to be you.

Two users included, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MFA

  3. 03

    Security

Your domain and website shielded from attacks and junk traffic. Your accounts, email and site checked against recognized security best practice, using the platforms we run for enterprise clients, with a plain-English report: what was wrong, what’s fixed. Useful the first time a larger client asks you a security question.

    Best-practice checks, plain-English report

  4. 04

    Registered office address

    Optional

Registered in Alberta and working from home? The registered office you gave is probably your house, and it sits on a public registry. If you’d rather it wasn’t, ask us and we’ll talk you through the options.

Business email

Nobody can send email as you.

The realistic risk isn’t a dramatic hack. It’s an email to your client, from your address, asking them to pay an invoice into a new account. Three short records in your domain close it off.

Authentication results

  • SPFIs this server allowed to send for the domain?None
  • DKIMWas the message signed, and is it unaltered?None
  • DMARCWhat should happen to mail that fails?None

Anyone can send this, and it would look like you.

“Before we started, your domain had no DMARC record, which meant anyone could send email that looked like it came from you. That’s fixed now.”From a security summary. Plain English, no scare words.

Three business days, start to finish.

Moving an existing domain or mailbox can occasionally stretch this. If it does, we’ll tell you, and we’ll tell you why.

After day three

We don’t set it up and disappear.

The plan is monthly because the work is. We stay on as your technology partner while the business grows.

  • We keep it running.

Hosting, certificates and email authentication are watched and renewed, so nothing quietly expires.

  • You have someone to ask.

A new hire needs a mailbox. A client sends a security questionnaire. You email us, and it gets handled.

  • You see where you stand.

Your security summary in plain language, at the start and again through the year.

Where we are

Questions

The ones we actually get.

Do you register or incorporate the business for me?

No. You register or incorporate it yourself, federally or with your province, or your accountant does it for you. We handle everything after that. If you haven’t done that yet, do it first and come back to us.

I’m not in Alberta. Can you still help?

Yes. Your website, email and security are set up the same way wherever you are in Canada. The one exception for now is Quebec, because our agreements aren’t available in French yet.

Couldn’t I set this up myself?

You could. You’d be buying an office suite, a domain, hosting and security tools separately, then working out how to set each one up properly and whether you got it right. That last part is what most people skip, and it’s the part we do, on one monthly bill.

What if I need more than two users?

Full setup includes two users, meaning two people with their own mailbox and sign-in. If you need more, contact us and we’ll quote the extra users before anything changes on your bill.

Can I make more QR codes myself?

Yes. We make yours with QReative, our own QR tool. It’s free for anyone, so you can make more for menus, events or packaging whenever you like, with your logo and colours.

Why not just keep using a free email address?

It works, but to a larger client it reads like a side project, and nothing stops someone setting up a similar-looking address. On your own domain, with authentication set up, mail in your company’s name can only come from you.

What isn’t included?

Anything beyond the standard setup, like onboarding a contractor, connecting a new app, or a custom feature on your website. Tell us what you need and we’ll quote it before we start, so there are no surprises on your bill.

Do I need a registered office address in Calgary?

Every Alberta corporation needs a registered office, and whatever address you give is on the public registry. Many owners use their home. If you’d rather not, contact us and we’ll talk you through the options.

Why should I trust you with this?

We do security implementation and compliance work for enterprises, and the security summary you get comes from our own compliance platform rather than being a claim we make about ourselves.

What happens if I cancel?

You keep your domain and everything on it. Member discounts end when your subscription does.

Start

Send us your name. We’ll take it from there.

Bring your domain name if you already have one. If you haven’t registered your business yet, do that first.

Rather talk it through?

Beyond two users, we’ll quote before anything changes.

We reply by email with the next step. See our privacy policy.
